I purchased my first pair of smart wool running socks roughly a year ago. In that order I received my PhD socks. I have worn these socks while hiking, running, and walking literally hundreds of miles sense I got them. The elastic banding in the socks is still just as snug and slip resistant as the day I first put them on my feet. The wool has begun to wear down to the liner in a few spots, but considering how long I've had these socks, and how well they have performed I'm still giving it 5 stars. Well done smart wool, I'll be buying another pair soon.

One day last spring I was out for a 4 mile run, training for my summer job with the National Park Service. I was feeling so good that I went past 4 miles, then 5 miles, at this point my only discomfort with with the sock that I was wearing. Another brand that was starting to get soggy and slippery! Luckily I was near a running store so I stopped in, breathless, cried, "Where is the Smartwool?" I quickly hooked up with a pair of these PhD Light Micro, the other pair in the trash with the tags and I was back on the street to finish what turned into a 10 mile run in complete comfort!
