A Year In Review: 2019

Smartwool exists to bring comfort, confidence, and community to a life lived outside. We live by our values here at Smartwool—openness, advocacy, action, inclusivity, & fun-loving. We work hard to put those values into practice every single day. In celebration of an awesome year, we wanted share a few of our favorite highlights from 2019.

- Donated over $200,000 globally to advocacy partners like Protect Our Winters, The Conservation Alliance, The Nature Conservancy, Big City Mountaineers, SOS Outreach, European Outdoor Conservation Association, Alpine Club of Canada, Nature United, and more.

- Supported the successful launch of the Yampa River Fund, an endowment fund to preserve and maintain the lifeblood of the Yampa Valley and one of the last remaining mostly free flowing rivers in Colorado.

- Turned October into Socktober! In the United States, Canada, and Europe, we claimed the month to support advocacy partners through sock sales and volunteer efforts.

- Volunteered a total of 2175.75 hours across 35 different organizations. From a variety of efforts in our local communities in Colorado & Tennessee to a week-long river clean-up in Ohio, there wasn’t a shortage of days spent giving back.

- Alternatively commuted nearly 23,000 miles thanks to all of our employees. That’s only 1,000 miles short of the distance around the earth!

- Hosted our 13th annual Ride to OR from Steamboat Springs to Denver, CO. Picture this: 3 days and a total of 200 miles that includes lots of snack breaks, bonding with fellow employees & partners, and a celebratory dinner….in your bathrobe.

- Launched a brand new line of high performance base layers Intraknit™. Seven years in the making, Intraknit is the evolution of taking 25 years of sock expertise and bringing it into Smartwool base layers.

- Hosted stage 1 of the  Colorado Classic, an exciting women’s pro cycling race. This race raised the bar in competitive cycling by providing unheralded financial support, global exposure and competitive opportunities for female cyclists. We’re beyond proud to be a part of that.

- Cheered on our co-workers as they pushed their limits—from racing and placing top 3 in the High Lonesome 100 (one of the most challenging Colorado ultra-marathons) to summitting Mt. Rainier to raise money for Big City Mountaineers.

From our employees and partners to our incredible retailers and amazing fans, Smartwool just wouldn’t be the same without the people who surround us. We are so grateful to have you as a part of our community. Here's to 2020.
