Mark Carter shaped his snowboarding career with the grit and gratitude he gathered from being a third-generation rancher. The man can herd cattle as well as he can carve powder. Mark received his first snowboard on Christmas Day at the age of 10, and when his grades were good enough for Mom, she gave him the thumbs up to get lift tickets every friday. Soon enough, he won his first halfpipe contest. However, snowboarding was not his first sport. Mark went to college on a football scholarship to play middle linebacker, but quickly realized that he was a better snowboarder than student and stiff-armer. Carter then made his way to Jackson Hole, where he found a job at the snowpark on the pipe crew. Since then, he has won stops on The North Face Masters big mountains series, starred in a number of major snowboard films, and shared unique projects with the industry. Even with all he’s accomplished, this powder cowboy is just getting started.
