Your complete guide to Merino wool.

Naturally versatile, renewable, and totally comfortable. Learn more about Merino wool and all the benefits that come with wearing it for all your outdoor pursuits.

It’s from nature. For nature.

There are so many natural advantages to wearing Merino wool. All our products are geared to help you get the most out of this super fiber so you can go farther and enjoy everything the outdoors has to offer.

Merino Wool Benefits

Natural

What is Merino wool made of? Proteins composed of amino acids and natural components. Merino wool is a natural, renewable sheep-grown fiber. Sheep grow new wool every year—just like their human hair—allowing them to have their own renewable resource. This means when garments have reached the end of their life, they can decompose without leaving harmful effects.

Helps Regulate Body Temperature

What is Merino wool great at? Helping keep your body at a stable temperature. When it’s cold outside, the natural crimp of wool fibers helps trap air, insulating you. When it’s warm outside, it transports sweat away from the skin, helping to keep you cool and dry.

Helps Keep You Dry and Sweat-Free

This benefit of wool can get a bit technical—bear with us. Merino wool transports sweat and moisture away from skin so sweat-free fibers are instantly produced. Wool wicks moisture and transports it to the exterior of the fabric, where it can evaporate.

Good for Layering

When it’s cold outside, one layer might not be enough. By using wool in layers, you create an escape route for sweat—and excess heat—back out of the garment. This strategy helps regulate temperature and keep you comfortable.

Odor Resistant

Merino wool is unique in that it absorbs odor caused by bacteria—trapping those small molecules within its fibers. This helps garments stay fresher longer, meaning you may not have as much need to wash them.

Soft

Soft is what Merino wool is best known for. Its fibers are much finer than traditional wool, making them feel soft and smooth against skin.

Biodegradable

Merino wool disappears after about 12 months in the ground. Most Merino wool fibers will naturally decompose when exposed to moisture, oxygen, and bacteria.

Fire-Resistant

Most outdoor gear sparks at less than 600°C. Merino wool naturally resists flames and will only melt at much higher temperatures.

What is Merino wool used for?

Anyone and everyone. Any age, any size. It’s for the excessive sweater, or the one who’s always cold. It’s for lounging in front of the fireplace, Wednesday yoga class, your next ski trip, or your next run, hike, hunt, climb, bike—you get the idea, right?
