Introducing Merino Movement

Smartwool’s first merino-blend activewear set, built to move naturally

We’re over overheating. Over stiff fabrics. Over leggings that lose their freshness after one wear. And we’re definitely over activewear that can’t keep up.

That’s why we created Merino Movement — Smartwool’s first women’s merino-blend legging and activewear set, designed for every workout, every errand, every stretch session, and every in-between moment. Built with our newest natural-based fabric, Merino Movement combines the performance benefits of Merino wool with the softness of TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers and the stretch you need to move freely and confidently all day long.

This launch marks an exciting step for Smartwool activewear. Leggings and coordinated sets are foundational pieces in every activewear wardrobe, and with Merino Movement, we’re bringing a fresh, natural-performance perspective to these everyday essentials. The result is a collection made for women who want more from their gear: more breathability, more softness, more versatility, and more comfort that lasts.

Natural performance, made for motion

Merino Movement was created for female fitness enthusiasts and everyday movers who need their activewear to work as hard as they do. Whether you’re heading to a workout class, going for a walk, fitting in a quick training session, or spending the day on the go, these pieces are designed to help you stay cool, dry, comfortable, and ready for whatever’s next.

At the core of the collection is a thoughtfully engineered fabric blend:

  • 28% Merino wool
  • 28% TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers
  • 25% recycled nylon
  • 19% elastane

This combination delivers the best of all worlds. Merino brings natural breathability, odor resistance, and temperature regulation. TENCEL™ adds next-to-skin softness, moisture management, and durability. Recycled nylon helps support lasting wear, while elastane brings the flexible stretch needed for dynamic movement.

Designed to feel good through every move

Merino Movement is made for everyday active use with performance features that help you move naturally and comfortably across a range of conditions and activities. The fabric is designed to:

  • Help improve breathability
  • Manage body temperature
  • Dry quickly
  • Stretch with your body
  • Deliver lasting durability
  • Stay fresher for longer

In other words: this is activewear that doesn’t just look good at the start of the day — it keeps performing long after you put it on.

Built-in details that go the distance

Every piece in the Merino Movement collection is thoughtfully designed with comfort and function in mind. Features include:

  • Reflective elements for added visibility
  • Thumbholes at the cuffs for a secure, stay-put fit
  • Drop-in hand pockets for convenient storage
  • Flatlock seam construction to help minimize chafing and increase comfort
  • Four-way stretch knit fabric for unrestricted movement
  • A slim fit intended to follow the contours of the body

Together, these details create a fit and feel that supports everything from high-energy training sessions to low-key recovery days.

Why Merino Movement wins

Merino Movement stands apart as a merino blend legging offering the best benefits for in motion. It offers comfort across changing activities, helps regulate temperature when your day heats up, and stays fresh beyond a single wear. It’s soft, supportive, breathable, and versatile — exactly what modern activewear should be.

This is for the woman who wants leggings that can keep up with her lifestyle. She wants softness without sacrificing performance. Breathability without bulk. Freshness without compromise. And comfort she can count on from morning movement to evening wind-down.

Move naturally in leggings that do more

With Merino Movement, Smartwool is expanding what activewear can feel like. This collection delivers breathable comfort, odor resistance, performance stretch, and natural temperature regulation in a set designed to move with confidence through every workout and every adventure.

Move naturally in leggings that do more.
Stay cool. Stay fresh. Keep moving.
That’s the power of Merino Movement.
